Welcome to my site. I will be Chronicling the construction of our new home. Here is a brief history of my experiance in this area. I moved every few years as a child. As an adult I stayed in one house for 25 years, but helped remodel it four times. From a minor bath redo to adding an entire second story to the house. Now my husband and I have moved to AZ to care for my elderly parents and are undertaking to be the owner/builders of a custom home. Some people don't like change but I guess I'm not one of them. Or perhaps it is just limited change I like. To my husband's current dismay I helped build a 4000 square foot house in Romania in 2001. We took it from slab to fully furnished in 11 days. I therefore have meager patience for the pace of building here in Arizona.

Summer Shots

I keep running into people who say they still check this blog so I guess it is time for some more photos. We visited Jon in Boulder last May, but now Nick has moved there too for the fall anyway. So this picture of the two of them seems appropriate, even if a few months old.

Then I thought we ought to have a picture show of some of the recent animal life around the house. There was a bobcat that ran across the street a couple of days ago but I missed that shot.

Finally, we have the latest summer contest-'Who can name this mystery plant?'. Please post your entries under the comment section. Some background info; I thought it was a penstomen seedling, until it started growing upward; it is now at least 4 feet tall; the stem is as thick as a man's thumb; I actually saw a few others growing along a wash several miles south of here; one of those had small, yellow and white tubular flowers on it. Guess away!

Happy to see the picture of Jon & Nick together.
The birds were great, especially the hummingbirds...how did you get them to stay still so long or was it you who waited patiently for them?
And Grampy's old friend the Javelina.
Sorry I can't help you out on the plant as my book on plants is for the Eastern Region!!

Well the plant is a South American native which has naturalized in the southwest. It is tree tobacco and can gro into a small tree up to 25 feet tall. Many parts of it are poisonous. I guess we'd better get it out!!!!!
