Arizona build'n

Name:
Location: Arizona, United States

Welcome to my site. I will be Chronicling the construction of our new home. Here is a brief history of my experiance in this area. I moved every few years as a child. As an adult I stayed in one house for 25 years, but helped remodel it four times. From a minor bath redo to adding an entire second story to the house. Now my husband and I have moved to AZ to care for my elderly parents and are undertaking to be the owner/builders of a custom home. Some people don't like change but I guess I'm not one of them. Or perhaps it is just limited change I like. To my husband's current dismay I helped build a 4000 square foot house in Romania in 2001. We took it from slab to fully furnished in 11 days. I therefore have meager patience for the pace of building here in Arizona.

Assorted Updates

I guess it is time to update this blog. First, some more about our western roadtrip. In Boulder, on Memorial Day they have a BIG roadrace called the Bolder Boulder. I think this year they had 50,000 people registered for it. They line you up by your abilities(according to you) and have everyone from professional runners to walkers, and even a wheelchair race. Both our boys ran in it and pictures of them are posted above, Jon in top photo looking back at photographer and Nick below in the red shorts.

After that we put all their stuff in storage and drove south through Colorado and New Mexico. We bought chiles in Hatch, New Mexico and had fun cooking with them after we got home. Nick had gotten a new, light-weight road bike and keeps working at making it to the top of Mt. Lemmon. It is a 26 mile ride up and so far he has made it halfway. Of course, it doesn't help that our daytime temperatures are in the low 100's and often in the 90's by 8am. We are all eagerly awaiting the summer monsoons(just no major downpours like last summer!!!!)
