Arizona build'n

Name:
Location: Arizona, United States

Welcome to my site. I will be Chronicling the construction of our new home. Here is a brief history of my experiance in this area. I moved every few years as a child. As an adult I stayed in one house for 25 years, but helped remodel it four times. From a minor bath redo to adding an entire second story to the house. Now my husband and I have moved to AZ to care for my elderly parents and are undertaking to be the owner/builders of a custom home. Some people don't like change but I guess I'm not one of them. Or perhaps it is just limited change I like. To my husband's current dismay I helped build a 4000 square foot house in Romania in 2001. We took it from slab to fully furnished in 11 days. I therefore have meager patience for the pace of building here in Arizona.

Home Again

We are back from our vacation just in time for some more rain. Not much here but the thunder and lighening show was fun to watch.Below are some pictures from our vacation. Our daughter joined us part way through our trip and interviewed for a job in Boston. She got the job and after a quick trip here to pack up she will become another 'Massachusetts Layton'. Today we took a hike in Sabino Canyon. We wanted to get a first hand look at the destruction and changes. Unfortunately most of it was still closed so we did not get to see or take pictures of very much. They are repairing one section of the road and then will open more up for hikers. So maybe I'll have photos in a few weeks.

These are Dave's aunt and uncle, Jean and Bill Sommers, celebrating their 65th anniversary. This event was the primary impetus for our trip East this year. Posted by Picasa

One of the other reasons we like to go to the East coast! We took a day trip to Vermont and New Hampshire to see the fall colors. A bit early but these were pretty good. Posted by Picasa

Keeping in touch with the world even while on vacation in rural Massachusetts. Or "the computer girls". Posted by Picasa

Anna with Grammy before she went off for her successful job interview. She will soon be a real Bostonian! Posted by Picasa

This is where a wall of water and boulders washed out the road in Sabino Canyon the day we got our 6 inches of rain in July. Posted by Picasa

This is actually showing some of the destuction in Sabino Canyon, but I thought the saguaro shadow was spectacular. Posted by Picasa
