Welcome to my site. I will be Chronicling the construction of our new home. Here is a brief history of my experiance in this area. I moved every few years as a child. As an adult I stayed in one house for 25 years, but helped remodel it four times. From a minor bath redo to adding an entire second story to the house. Now my husband and I have moved to AZ to care for my elderly parents and are undertaking to be the owner/builders of a custom home. Some people don't like change but I guess I'm not one of them. Or perhaps it is just limited change I like. To my husband's current dismay I helped build a 4000 square foot house in Romania in 2001. We took it from slab to fully furnished in 11 days. I therefore have meager patience for the pace of building here in Arizona.

Another Visitor!

At 6 pm today, we were sitting in the library reading when we heard a thump and then a clang. I asked if perhaps the gate man had arrived to install the remaining gates. But no, it wasn't him, though we sure wished it was him! Instead, a lone javelina was on the back patio with the birdseed bin which I had left out after the last refill of the feeders. He got the lid opened, pulled out the bag of peanuts, and began biting holes in the plastic bag. I don't think he actually ate very much of the peanuts but there are about 5 holes in the bag now. I am a bit concerned about whether he is just a loner or sick. When we came back from the library a few hours earlier, I noticed some dirt on the patio next to my herb planter. I thought perhaps some bird had been in it. Now I realize that was the corner of the planter that had had the cilantro in it and that was the one plant the javelinas had eaten before. So he had probably left and come back. I guess I will take the peanut feeder inside tonight.

Dad said "what a super picture". we all seem to be having a hard time feeding the birds, between javalinas and bears!
I'm sure you will be real happy when those gates are installed.
